one night I locked my bedroom door
and covered my walls in writing
and I can’t tell you why
except that I had to

it didn’t look like poetry
like broken things often do

you see, i’ve got this thing with obsession
at least that’s what i’ve been told
and i’ve never been good at spelling
but I swear on the bones of my broken dreams
words haunt me in my sleep

and you ask me what it feels like,
to drown
and instead of trying to swim
I use my words to describe the water
